Sam is 6 Years Old

December 3rd~

Sam loves school and learning to read. He is happy to comply whenever we ask him to read us a book but he says his favorite subject is math.

The excitement of Beyblades has decreased over the year. Sam would stay on his tablet all day long if given a choice, but he also loves to be outside and play Hot Wheel City. He is not into independent play and usually tries to enlist Dad or me as his playmates. He likes when Molly's friends are over but usually gets in their way. This year with covid has been challenging for him because we have not had the chance to meet any of Sam's friends from school. He still likes to hang out with Sam Butler and Jackson, but since they all go to different schools, it is hard to justify the risk of covid when they don't already interact at school.

Sam still has energy beyond belief. He decided to join Molly in taekwondo, and we hope that helps him focus his energy.  He also loves running and riding his bike. Luckily he eats like a champ, and we are already a little scared for the food budget once the teenage years hit.

The tantrums have come in full force. While those are incredibly frustrating, he is still the sweetest boy.

Sam HATES to wear pants. With the help of his teacher, we at least have him wearing long underwear under his shorts if it is supposed to be 40 degrees or less. In his defense, he hardly ever gets cold, probably because he never stops moving.

Molly is 9!

December 1st~

Molly loves school and especially likes her teacher, Mrs. Price. When I asked her what subject was her favorite, she told me all of them, though math is her best. This past year, she has added a fascination with maps and learning about different countries to her repertoire.

Non-fiction books are still a favorite, but we have added The Boxcar Children to her list of approved chapter books. Her favorite shows are Julie and the Phantoms, Odd Squad, and Wild Kratts.

She is still doing taekwondo and piano. She will tell you her favorite things are climbing trees, playing with friends, and swimming. Molly still has a massive passion for animals.

We got a season ski pass this year, and Molly still enjoys skiing and will soon be skiing in circles around me.

Molly has also added meditation to her list of activities. She must have learned parts of meditation at school, and I will occasionally find her in her room listening to calming music while meditating. She really does have an old soul.

She is also forever our early bird and does not understand the joy of sleeping in.

New Camper

August 2020 ~

I have wanted a camper for a while, but it wasn't easy to get Chris on board. He thought a camper meant an end to tent camping and backing packing. Once I assured him that was not the case and it would help

us extend our camping timeframe, he started to come around to the idea.

Molly wanted to sleep in the camper the first night we got it.

These are pictures we found online of the camper model we purchased, but not of the actual inside of our camper.

End of July

July 31st~

Molly:

Molly brought the Alexa outside so she could play calming music while she meditated

Sam:

Sam and I had a Mommy/Son day while Chris took Molly and the cousins on a day float trip.  When I asked Sam what he wanted to do for his special day, his only response was to find a coconut and drink out of it.  He was not a fan of the coconut milk, but we still had fun.

Kids:
Grandma found a great way to play with the kids Covid style.

This is where the kids hang out while they are waiting to company to arrive.

Float Down the Snake

 July 25th ~

Chris took us, Kristin & Tim, and Doug & Jody on a day float trip down the Snake River.  It was windier than we expected, but that didn't stop us. Both kids had their kayaks and I went down on my paddle board.  I could not stay standing up the entire time because of the wind, and I had to rotate taking the kids and pulling their kayaks behind me, but we still had a blast.

Molly's Green Belt

 July 15th~

Molly went from a camo belt to a green belt today.  Thanks to covid, the testing was done at the normal gym and only person could accompany a child.   Daddy got to take Molly this time and he did an amazing job of taking lots of pictures.

This is the first time Molly has done sparring at testing.
