Sam's Hand

November 28th~

Nana came into town after Molly’s party and headed straight over to see the kids. While Nana was watching Sam, I was helping Molly with an art project she got for her birthday. Chris had been outside and tried to come in the front door, which was locked. Nana went to open the front door for him and in that second Sam started to scream. Immediately I yelled "his hands" and had Molly off my lap and was in the office. He had pulled himself upright and had both his little hands pressed against the fireplace. Sam has been all boy and would hit the fire place or bang toys against it if it was on, so I have tested it out on myself. It was warm, but not hot. The problem was he usually goes after it from the living room side where there is a bench that keeps him from getting too close. In the office, however, there is no bench so he had his hands fully pressed on the grate and then could not pull himself away. We immediately ran cool water over his hands. They did not immediately turn red so we thought we were in the clear. However, within 30 minutes huge blisters appeared. Sam was pretty upset and would not let me keep a cold compress on his hands. I finally got desperate and put him in the bathtub. He immediately became happy and started playing in the water. I had silvadene and we lathered that on and then put a glove over his hand. He stayed happy until he got excited and started banging on his toys…then he would cry again.

I slept with him on the couch that night before pulling him into bed with us in the morning.

Sunday the blisters were still intact but by that night they were large and solid. Chris took Sam to the pediatrician Monday morning and they decided to cut off the blisters. Normally you are suppose to leave them intact, and our doctor was super impressed they still were with an infant. However, it looked like they had crossed a joint line, and the skin was so red where it was being pulled tight we were more concerned of an infection if we didn’t open them up. Sam cried a little but did okay. After they were done they gave him a bowl of soapy water to soak his hand in and he loved that. We then took him to the doctors daily for the first week. The doctor would clean his wound in the morning and we would at night (usually with a bath). Sam was much happier with the blisters gone so he could crawl and hit things again without the added pressure. We always taped the glove around his wrist but he never tried to take it off.

He was seriously the best patient

December 9th

We felt horrible but are so thankful it was not worse. The day it happened went from being one our best to one of our worst. Sam's hand completely healed within two weeks, by a month you couldn’t even see where the burn was. Molly has been super cute about the whole thing. She was so nervous and worried for her brother. Even now (months later) if I turn on the fire place she turns it right off. Once Sam was napping so I told her it was okay and she said “lets not waste it.” Another time Sam was in the office and walking along the walls, Molly wrapped her arms around him and pretty much laid on him. I told her it was fine because the fire place was off, but she started to cry and say “I just don’t want him to touch the fire place.”

Molly's Birthday Party

November 28th~

This was Molly's first non family birthday party.  Ever since last January, at Payton's party at Danik Gymnastics, Molly has talked about nothing else than her "nastics" party.

The morning started with cupcake making.  Molly is stilled obsessed with Frozen but wanted both blue and green cupcakes.

And yes she picks out her own outfits

We had an amazing turn out for this being the weekend after Thanksgivings.  All of the kids ran around like crazy and had a blast.

Even Sam had fun crawling all around.

After an hour of wearing out the kids and adults it was time for presents.

Then cupcakes!

After Molly was done eating her cupcake, she sat down alone to look at all her presents again.  I don't think she knew what to do with them all since normally her presents are from family and not friends.  But needless to say it was a truly amazing party for our truly amazing daughter!

Thanksgiving

November 26th~

After the race we headed home for showers and then headed to the Koenig's for dinner.  Lynn and Kerry were in Montana with Nana and Papa but we still had Auntie Kristin, Grandma and Grandpa with us.

As always the food and company was amazing.

Turkey Day 5K

November 26th~

We signed up for the Turkey Day 5K again this year.  Since I was not 9 months pregnant, I got to participate in the whole run/walk. Molly was pretty excited until we got out of the car and she realized how cold it was.  After that I could not get her to even uncover her face in the stroller.  However, once she saw Miles running in the snow, that was all she was interested in.  She was having so much fun in the snow, it was hard to convince her to keep moving forward toward the finish line.

Uncle Timmy came for another visit and this time brought Aunt Laura and family! We all had a blast and Amber and Hunter were amazing with the kids.  We were all sad to say good-bye.

2015 Antelope Hunt

November 8th~

Chris drew a unit 45 doe antelope rifle tag in 2015 and Chris headed out on a Saturday with Pat to see if they could get it done. After doing a bit of driving and seeing lots of big muley bucks, they finally found a big group of goats to pursue. Chris crawled to about 250 yards from some bedded antelope and eventually they stood up and offered a shot. Chris took the shot, but was unsure if he hit the animal and it was lost in the rest of the group so no second shots were fired. After much searching it was determined to be a clean miss so the pursuit continued. Pat went back for the truck while Chris did a ¾ mile circle around the herd to get a shot off some rim-rock. The plan worked perfectly and a portion of the herd emerged at 75 yards. Chris picked out a big doe and dropped his FIRST ANTELOPE her in her tracks! With the help of Pat, they made quick work of the animal and had it on ice and a beers in their hands back at the truck in about an hour!
