This year marked my 5th time running Robie Creek. The weather was perfect and in the low 60's....a far cry from the 80's we saw last year on race day.
Auntie Kristin was nice enough to watch Molly again during the race, but I had to get my pictures in before we left the house!
The Sloths! We even got Todd back from Utah for this one. I also don't know if you can tell, but the race coordinators gave us blue ribbons to wear in honor of Boston.
The masses
Then it was on to the downhill. As always, it was great to know I was done with the uphill, but the downhill definitely tears up your quads. The last mile of the race flattens out but after the steep downhill you actually feel like you are going uphill again. I felt like my pace was crawling but I refused to look at my watch. I had wanted to run based on how I felt and not push myself hard for a specific time. My planning paid off though and I still came in with a PR of 2:14:12.6. That put me 1071st out of 2345 total runners and 73rd out of 213 runners in my age group.
Kerry also got a PR by 6 minutes at 1:53:45.6
After the race it time for Flat Bread Pizza Co. for some much earned dinner with the Idaho Sloths! We had a great turn out from all the sloths and I sure wish we had these kinds of numbers every Saturday morning.
