The Sloths at Jug Mountain

June 21-23rd~

Jug Mountain golf course has a series of mountain bike races that are national qualifies and an added 10 mile trail run.  Most of the Sloths had run this race previously and had really enjoyed it. 
Chris, Molly, and I headed up to the Cabin Friday night and Jill, Abbey, and Katie's family joined us Saturday night.  Terry, Zif, and Keziah all road up to the race Sunday morning.

Kelly's Whitewater Park hosted their first annual Payette River Games this weekend as well.  They had a fairly large cash prize payout and had a large turnout that included international competitors. Once Jill and Abbey arrived, we decided to check out the games. It was fun to be a spectator for another sport and witness their "community."  We saw the end of a kayak race and the boatercross competition.  The strength and endurance these athletes have is insane. 

 The race was Sunday at Jug Mountain Golf Course.  I, of course, was sick and had not run at all that week but was still looking forward to new scenery and just enjoying the race.  There were only 24 runners and the whole event just felt low key.  The first 3 or so miles was a pretty steady incline that my body and lungs did not love, but the trails were amazing.  It almost felt like being in a rain forest with all the green vegetation and trees.  After the initial climb it was a back and forth between climbs and declines.  A few times I actually stopped at the top of a hill unsure how to run down the next part.  It was so steep.  The Sloths who had run it before said it was closer to a 12 mile race than 10, so I was taking my time and walking when I needed to.  At mile 7 I thought 3 more miles was definitely doable, but if I had 5 it was going to be a struggle.  Then, next thing I knew, I saw a sign that said finish!  They ended up shortening the course and taking out the river crossing, so it ended up only being 8 miles.  I kind of wish they would have told that earlier because I definitely could have picked it up a notch if I knew I was that close to the finish, but all in all I was happy it was not longer!

There were no timing chips for the race and somehow the official time recorders missed about half of our times, so we had to go off of the photo finish Chris took of all of us crossing the finish line, but these are the results:

• Zif ~ 1:14:52 7th place
• Terry 1:23:08 10th place
• Katie 1:24:50 13th place
• Abbey 1:24:55 14th place
• Keziah 1:25:06 15th place
• Jill 1:27:32 17th place
• Me 1:30:14 20th place

Grandma Jody and Cascade and Father's Day

June 12-18th~

Grandma Jody came for another visit and over the weekend we all went up to Cascade.  We had a lot of fun and took a drive up Snowbank Mountain.

 

We even found a little bit of snow to make a snow man with.

 

Then that night we left Molly with Grandma so Chris and I could go out on Lake Cascade with his canoe and do some fishing.  Chris caught a small perch, but I had no such luck.  Still it was so beautiful and relaxing to be out on the water.  This was also only my second time being in Chris' canoe.  The first was within the first few months of us dating when we went down the South Fork with Pat and Charity.

Our bad luck at the cabin was still going strong and I kicked up a rock while weed wacking and shattered one of our front windows.  Drake then ended up getting bit by another dog and had to get a tube put in his neck to drain the seroma.  This meant another cone for Drake, though he didn't seem to mind because he was still able to run around.  Right now I think this dog is costing us more than Molly!

I was a bad mommy and did not have Molly make Daddy any special presents for Daddy, but we did get Daddy seat covers for his truck and a new ceramtic dutch oven.  We love Daddy so much and do not know what we would do without him. 

 

Since Chris' birthday is also approaching Grandma made a yummy chocolate cake and we had Pat, Charity and Connor all over to celebrate...

Bad time at the Cabin

June 7th-9th~
Saturday was Idaho's free fishing day and Chris volunteered to help out in Cascade.  We got up to the cabin late Friday night and had a quick dinner then called it an early night.  When I woke the next morning my stomach felt a little off.  Chris was already making breakfast and also comment how he did not feel great either.  He ate a little breakfast, but I could not even think about food.  We figured we ate something bad and knew the fridge was going out, but only used the ketchup and mustard so we were not sure what was going on.  Chris left for his thing, and I was left with a very happy energetic Molly. By 10:30 I could not take it anymore and laid Molly down for a nap.  She has not been taking a morning nap anymore and usually goes down around 1pm for about 2 hours, but I was praying she would at least give me 30 minutes....instead I got 3 hours!  Talk about an answer to my prayers.  I did not move from the couch (except to get sick).  Chris got back home right when Molly woke up and went straight to bed.  Then we had to start tag teaming her.  Luckily she was pretty happy and not too needy, but both of us just wanted to sleep.  The only picture I took was this one from my phone.......

Chris and I both ended up with fever and body aches so were trying to figure out an easy way to massage the other.  We ended up not having the strength but Molly thought it was fun. 

18 months

June 1st~

Molly is staying right on track with her growth curve:

• weight: 24 lbs 5 oz                 50%
• height: 30 3/4 inches              25%
• head circumference: 47 cm    60%

I know I say this on every update post for Molly, but she is so much fun!  I have truly loved every stage of this little girl, but each new one seems to become more and more fun.
Molly is now running from place to place and loves to chase or be chased.  She climbs ontop of everythings possible, and this is what started our first time out sessions.

 

 Molly's timeout consists of me putting her in her pack n play that is set up in the office for one minute.  She usually just stands in there until the time is up.  I then try to explain to her why she was put in time out and then make her sign sorry before I get her out.  Normally the second I start to talk she says "K", "K" all while signing sorry.  She could really care less that she was put in there but I have nothing else seems to work either!

We also love fruit snacks and cereal and will do anything possible to get them.

 Molly still loves the outdoors and playing with her water table.  However, it does seem if she gets too hot she asks to go back inside.  Her favorite outdoor activity is checking on the garden with daddy and watering it.  This is the first thing they do when they get home and she nicely touches all the plants, then will sit on her knees to get eye level with them, and of course there is playing in the mud after everything is watered!  We also love the swimming pool and throwing the ball for Drake.

 Drake is not always impressed with chasing the balls Molly throws since they don't go very far.

Books still seem to be a big favorite and we can sit and read them for at least an hour without complaint.  She loves the ones that rhyme and starts to dance a little in your lap when you read those.  She also loves the books that she can interact with, like pointing to a body part or clapping your hands.  She currently knows where her eyes, ears, nose, mouth, tongue, teeth, bellybutton, elbow and knees are.
Two of my favorite books to read to her right now are Babies, in which they talk about what babies need,  she will sign most everything and then when we get to the pages about needing hugs and kisses, she will give me both!  The next is Are You A Cow? in which they ask if you are you are cow, are you a chicken etc, and after each question Molly gives the quickest and cutest no. 
Wood peg puzzles are also a big hit around our house.  It has been amazing to see Molly's progress at figuring out how to get all the pieces in place.  At first she just knew where they were suppose to go but relied on us to put them in place.  Then she would turn them a little but give up quickly if it didn't fit and other pieces she would completely bypass knowing she couldn't get them.  Now she knows how to spin them all around until they fit in place.

Molly also learned a lot of animals sounds.  My favorite to hear her say are the rooster (she just says cock a doo) and the donkey.  She also knows a cow, dog, kitty cat, and monkey....

Molly also learned the sign for bath and every time she gets to the bottom of the stairs she says and signs bath so she is getting those almost daily now. It is just too cute you can't not give her what she wants!
Molly is also still a great sleeper, but definitely like her parents and is still early to bed, early to rise.  It seems no matter how late we put her to bed, she will always wake up between 6 and 6:15am.  Luckily for me she usually has no problem hanging out in her crib talking to herself or playing her mobile so I do not need to go up to her room until closer to 7 to get her ready for school after I am ready for work.
                                     She also LOVES her pillow and purple hippo....

 

Her favorite game right now is "Peek Boo."  Anything she can hide behind or cover over her eyes is perfect for her game.  And of course, anything that involves having fun...
