Being Sick and Lots of Firsts

Chris headed back to Minnesota for his annual ice fishing trip.  While he did not catch a single fish, everyone had a great time playing poker and catching up.
While Daddy was off playing, Molly and I stayed very busy.  Friday we did some errands, went to a  going away party, and then Molly had her first sleepover with Auntie Lynn, Uncle Kerry, and her cousins.  Luckily for everyone she had a great night of sleep.  I ran with my running group the next morning, so I still did not get to sleep in, but it did save me some time in the morning from having to pack Molly all up for Lynn's.
On Saturday, after my run, we headed to a jewelry party, followed by dinner at Charity's.  With all the activity, Molly was quite fussy Saturday, so we stayed in on Sunday and Auntie Kristin came over to play for a bit in the afternoon.
Daddy was home on Monday, and Molly and I got sick on Tuesday.  Lucky for me, Molly was a sleepy sick baby, so every time she went down for a long nap, so did I.  That night she surprised us with her second 8+ hour night.  Thursday, Auntie Lynn did not work, so after Molly's 7:30 am feeding, she picked Molly up so I could go straight back to bed, which I did until noon!  That night Molly slept another 8 hours, and by morning I felt like a whole new person.  It was well into the very beginning of my pregnancy that I had slept so long, and so good.  So that day I cleaned the entire house, went for a run, and made dinner...I don't think Chris knew what to make of me!
Since being sick Molly has consistently slept 7 1/2 to 8 hours between feedings.  A few nights I will have to get up to give her a pacifier, but she usually wont require a feeding.  This is just in time too, because I start on Monday!  It seems like yesterday I found out we were pregnant, and now I am almost done with my maternity leave.  I am excited to get back to work, but it is going to be difficulty to leave Molly.

It has been so hard to get a picture of Molly's huge smile.  She gives them so easily to us, but the second I pull out the camera, she gets so fascinated by it, she stops smiling, and just looks inquisitive.

This was after her first nap in her crib.  Molly still sleeps in a bassinet in our room.  We love having her so close, and even though she does make a lot of noise during the night, it is reassuring to this new mom to hear her.  However, with me going back to work, we figured we had better start getting her use to her big baby bed.  She wakes up so happy now...I love it.

Molly's new thing is to stick out her tongue when she gets really excited about something.  She still loves her playmate and gets her arms and legs swinging like crazy to hit all her toys.  Yesterday she grabbed one of her toys for the first time!  She has gotten a hold of ones before, but usually it is not the one she looks at.  Yesterday she looked at her bug, got a determined look on her face (with tongue out), and next thing I know one of the little tags was in her hands!

We also pulled out the bumbo chair for the first time.  Molly has been doing a great job with holding her head up, and has really enjoyed looking out at things, and not just up anymore.  She really likes the bumbo chair, but we can't keep her in it for too long because she starts to do a bobble head impression when her neck muscles get tired.

Jody and John

Grandma Jody and Grandpa John came to visit us.  Chris and I were excited to finally introduce Molly to John, and have his mom see how much Molly had grown.  They got into town on Tuesday and we spent the day hanging out.

On Wednesday, Molly had her 2 month appointment.  Once Chris and I got home from the doctors, I fed Molly and then Chris, Jody, John, and Molly all headed up to Cascade.  I had been looking forward to book club that night, so we decided I would enjoy a night alone and then meet everyone at the cabin the following morning.  Even though it was my idea, it was so hard to have Molly leave me.
Once everyone was gone, I ran some errands and got ready for book club.  We had a great time and once it was done, I headed home to get some much needed sleep.  I still had to wake up in the middle of the night to pump, and wake up early so I could get to Cascade in time to head to the winter carnival, so I did not really get any extra sleep, but it was nice to have some me time.
Once I made it to the cabin we headed to McCall for the carnival.  We had a great time just walking around the town and looking at all the snow sculptures.  Overall, it was a great week!

2 months

Our baby girl is growing by the minute.  At our two month appointment her stats were:
  • Weight:  11 lbs 4 oz,  75%
  • Height:    22 in    45%
  • Head circumference:  39 cm   50%
At this appointment Molly received her first round of shots.  I thought, with me being in the medical field, I would be a tough mom that knew this was what she needed to stay healthy, and yes she would cry, but that was fine.  However, the little shock in her eyes followed by the pain and her sobs was almost more than I could take!

Molly is becoming more interactive daily.  Her smiles are easily given and she loves talking.  She lets out a sound and then gives a broad smile and almost chuckle when you repeat it to her.  She has just started tracking objects with her eyes and loves watching the duckies on her swing mobile.  Daddy got Molly the book Brown Bear, Brown Bear for Christmas and it is one of her favorites to look at.  The vibrating bouncy chair is also a favorite and this past weekend she learned how to kick her feet to make the chair and toys attached bounce.  We still love our baths and she is getting better with tummy time.  No more rolling over, but she is getting great control of her head.  However, if she is tired she will lay her head down and go straight to sleep.  I think once she figures out the rolling over from back to tummy she will turn into a tummy sleeper.  Molly's legs are also becoming stronger and loves to stand and bounce on them.

This picture is a little blurry, but this is my favorite face of Molly's (how mean am I).

Molly does have a clogged tear duck we are watching and still throws up at almost every feeding so she is consently in a bib.  However, since she is a happy spiter and is gaining weight appropriately there is nothing the doctor is concerned about.
