December 1st~
At Molly's one year check-up her stats were:
- Weight: 21 lbs 7 oz 50%
- Height: 28 1/2 inches 25%
- Head Circumference: 45 cm 60%
The first marked the end of the fastest (and BEST) year of our lives. It is completely mind numbing to think of how much our baby girl has grown in the past 12 months, from the helpless tiny baby to this funny and intelligent little toddler that is the complete light of her parent's world. Not a day goes by that one of us does not make a comment about how much we love Molly and just how fun she is.
Molly is still not walking, but has learned to pull herself up on everything, and cruises around the furniture like nobodies business. She also loves to cruise around the house using her push toy. Molly's balance is also not good enough for to stand without support. When we try to have her stand upright or take a few steps towards us without holding onto our hands, Molly gets a huge grin across her face and then belly flops! She doesn't even try, but is somehow still so proud of herself, even after the fall. Molly has also learned how to climb up the stairs, but is not the best at coming down them gracefully, so we finally installed a gate at the bottom and top of the stairs.
The push toy also has a phone on it and anytime Molly sees it she will put it up to her ear and say Hi. She then listens for a little bit before she spits out a full sentence of baby babble, usually followed by a laugh. I would give anything to know what she was saying, or who she thinks she is talking too!
Molly goes through days where she is a little bit picker on what foods she eats, but luckily is still a great eater the majority of the time. When she does decide she has had enough to eat she just drops all the left over food over the side of her tray and straight unto the floor. Molly loves all fruits, but bananas are definitely at the top of her list. And surprisingly the meal she seems to love the most is meatloaf!
Both Molly and I have been dealing with a never ending cold this month and daddy was the only one Molly let cuddle with her when she was under the weather.
Molly is also still a huge fan of books. Whenever the house is quite, it is usually because Molly has pulled out every book she can find and is looking through them page by page. Her favorite book this past month was One Little Hippo and His Friends. Most of his friends are hiding and once I push, pull, or turn the tabs, Molly is very quick to follow and put them back into hiding. She also loves Eyes & Nose, Fingers & Toes. The only command she follows from this book is when it says "open your mouth big and wide." It works so well that I have started to recite it while trying to brush Molly's teeth!
The other big step this month is Molly has truly started to use sign language with us. The most impressive example is when I was reading her her dog book and we got to a picture of a German Shorthaired Pointer, I asked her if that was a picture of her dog and she signed dog. I then had to repeat it for Chris. It seems she only thinks that sign is for her dog and not all dogs, but I figure it is a step! She also signs more, milk, all done, and does semi up.
Most of my pictures this month were from Thanksgiving, but Grandma Jody and Grandpa John also came for a visit, so Grandma was kind enough to send me some pictures she took of Molly on her phone for me to add to the blog....
A part of me is sad that my baby girl has grown up so quickly but I do look forward to watching her continue to grow and bring even more happiness to this family.
