Goodbye to Scranton Way

July 7th~

Chris and I are no longer landlords!!!  The market had finally recovered enough for us to bring home a little extra cash if we sold our rental so we jumped at the chance.  Having Scranton as a rental has been very bittersweet.  It was my first home and served me so well, but I never really intended for it to become a rental.  Other than one horrible nightmare of a renter we did have good tenants, but we were losing money on the place monthly and no one takes care of a place quite like I would have:)

We (mainly Chris) spent a month fixing the place up and within two months of it being on the market we signed the final paperwork on Monday!

4th of July and Continental Divide Hike

July 3-6th~

Every year the Sloths head north of Salmon to Terry's property where they camp and do the Continental Divide Hike.  We have never been able to make it before and were very excited about this trip. 

We left Thursday after work and drove as far as Stanley.  There we found a campsite just off the road and set up camp.  Molly was incredibly excited to sleep in a tent and test out her new sleeping bag Daddy got her.  I don't think she fell asleep until after 10 and was up by 5. 

She was way too happy for 6am 

Luckily she took a nap the rest of the way and was able to play once we arrived. 

  

On the 4th we all just hung around, played in the river, and took some 4 wheeler drives.

Molly also found a tractor to play with.

Molly has been OBESSED with diggers so we got her one as a present for the camping weekend.  Terry had a sandpit set up for his granddaughter so it turned out perfect.

Molly slept much better that night and the next morning we were all up early to start the day long hike.  Unfortunately Kristin threw out her back 2 weeks earlier and while we were hopeful it would behave the day of the hike she started having spasms within the firs few miles.  Chris and I decided to turn around with her and had an enjoyable hike back to camp.  We took our time, ate lunch, relaxed in the wildflowers and found some yummy huckleberries to eat.  We still have plans to make it to the top next time we go but I know we made the right decision turning around early for both Kristin's and mine sake. 

Molly's First Haircut

June 29th~

At 2 1/2 Molly finally got her first hair cut.  Her hair has been continuously growing at random lengths since she was a baby but it finally accrued a long enough rat tail that I had to cut it. The very back of her hair was at least a good two inches longer than anywhere else.  When she demanded a pony tail all the time it was fine, but lately has not been wanting her hair pulled back. 
She handled the cut very well and has a head of somewhat even length hair!

Scott and Ellie's Wedding

June 27th~

With work being the way it has been this summer, I was only able to get off one day for Scott's wedding, and that was the day of the wedding.  Luckily mom was already in Boise waiting to pick her sister and brother-in-law up from the airport and she kindly watched Molly for us over the weekend.

Chris and I took off after work on Thursday night and drove to Idaho Falls.  The next day we made it to Dad's 2 hours before we had to leave for the wedding.  We snuck in a quick nap and then got ourselves ready...though Drake and I did get some napping done in the car!

Scott and Ellie got married in a very cute church in the mountains by Cooney Dam and had their reception in Roberts.  We did not stay too late at the reception because we were leaving the next morning for home. 

It was an incredibly quick trip but I would not have missed Scott's wedding for the world. 

 

Molly seemed to do fine while we were gone with trips to the park that included her first snow cone and the yummy TV dinner Nana got her....

 

 

Solo Trip to Cascade

June 18-20th~

Originally my best friend from High School, Tanya, and cousin, Mindy, were scheduled to come to Idaho this weekend and spend some time at the cabin.  We were all incredibly excited for a girls weekend, especially since it was my wedding when we where last all together...and you know you never get too much hanging out in at weddings.

However, Mindy's brother, Scott, decided to pop the question to his girlfriend and plan his wedding for the next weekend.  Of course that took Mindy out of the equation for coming, and with Scott being like a brother to me, I was not going to miss the wedding.  In the end we decided to cancel the girls' weekend for this year and are trying to re-plan for next when we can all make it.

At first I thought I would just work that week, but then I realized how crazy work was going to be this summer with everyone out on vacations and medical leave.  I decided a solo trip to the cabin still sounded like an excellent idea.

I headed up Wednesday and came home early enough on Friday to get Molly from school.  The first night I slept so soundly (I don't even think I got up to pee) and was surprised when I woke up the next morning realizing I had slept for 12 hours!  I think that is what I needed the most.

Other than that I ran every day, read my book, and watched a few movies.  It was heaven and just what I needed to rejuvenate myself.

Better yet, when I got home on Friday, I discovered Jody had cleaned our house before leaving so all I had to worry about was putting my things away and then hanging out with Molly.  Thanks again Jody!

Grandma

June 10-19th~

We were lucky enough to have Grandma come out and stay for a long week!  Of course this meant a lot of playing and silly time for Grandma and Molly.

 

 

 

 

  

 

I think this last paint picture looks very similar to one I saw of Molly with Nana....it must be a grandma thing because I am sure we did not get to do that as kids!

 

 Molly also told Grandma about all the fun she had in Riggins the weekend before and before you knew had Grandma talked into going that coming weekend.  I think that was the highlight of their week.  Grandma had never been there before and was in love with the scenery.  They also got a room with a baloney this time so they could walk right out onto it and see Chris fishing in the river below.
