Minnesota

August 28th-31st~

We decided it was time to take the kids to Minnesota for a visit.  Molly was excited about riding on the airplane since she was too little to remember her other trips.   Luckily both kids did great, both ways.

We stayed at Grandma's trailer in Lake City and had a wonderful time.  Saturday the King side of the family came to visit and meet Sam.  Then on Sunday it was the Sullivan's turn for a visit.
Great Grandma and Grandpa Sullivan

My Aunt and Uncle where also able to come down both days and my cousins made it down on Sunday.  My Aunt Connie and Uncle Bob took a TON of pictures of all the relatives together.  Once I get those from her I will update with those pictures too!

One of the days, Mike and Lisa drove their boat up to see us.  It was an incredibly nice pontoon boat and we took it for about an hour spin.  It was nice to sit and relax, and Molly even got her nap in :)

Cabin with Grandma

August 16th &17th~

Since my race took up most of Saturday, Chris, Grandma and the kids headed to Cascade without me. When I got home from the Wine Run, I took a quick nap, packed and then headed up myself.

The first thing I did was lay down and relax!

Chris had to head up north for work on Sunday, but I was lucky enough to have Monday off, so we stayed for an extra night.

Sunday on his way out, Chris dropped me and my paddle board off at Kelly's Whitewater Park so I could float down the river.  It was a lot of fun, but next time I would like to try to be out there longer.

Once I was done I picked up Grandma and the kids and took them to the lake. It was windier and cooler than I expected, but that never stops Molly.  And since Molly has no fear of the water, I was forced to go in with her...even though she had her life vest on.  We stayed and played for a little bit before I was able to convince her to go back to the cabin.

Idaho Wine Run

August 15th~

This year I signed up for the Idaho Wine Run with my fellow Idaho Sloths.  I had previously ran the 10K course, but this was my first time running the half.

The largest fire in the state, the Soda Fire, which burned almost 300,000 acres, was less than 30 miles from the race.  This made the morning of the race very smokey.  Luckily, I was not looking for any records.  My main goal was to try and come in between 2 hrs 15 minutes and 2 1/2 hours.

You can see us on the right side of this picture.
To show a little bit of the smoke...

I also did not really notice the smoke until the wind died down, but that was short lived.

I felt great the whole race and came in at 2:06:10, which put me 97th of 353 total runners and
11th of 50 in my division.
Kristin ran the 10K in preparation for her half marathon.
Afterwards we stay for some food and wine tasting before heading home.

Back Packing !!!!!!!!!!

August 8-9th~

Jake and Kelli came out for a long weekend over Chris and mine's anniversary.  Work has been crazy this summer (as usual) so I was unable to get any extra time off while they were here.  Thursday Chris took them rafting down the Payette River from Banks to Beehive

Friday morning the three of them then took off for Langer Lakes where they were able to hike and fish.

Saturday morning Chris hiked out of camp and met me close to the trail head to hike back into camp with me.  Soon after I arrived it started to rain so we all gathered in our two person tent to play some cribbage.  Once the rain stopped the boys continued fishing for dinner while I took a peaceful nap.  I had almost forgotten just how quite it can be in the woods when there are no kids around.

All too short it was time to hike out.

It was such a great weekend with great friends.  Thanks to Grandma for watching the kids for us!

8 months

August 3rd~

Before this last month we had stopped offering baby food to Sam because he was just not interested in it, and it became more of a fight than I thought it needed to be.  When he finally started showing an interest in the food on our plate, we decided to try again.  This time he LOVED it.  He is such a good little eater now and will eat anything we put before him.  He really likes the cereal puffs but doesn't quite have his gumming down yet so you have to keep a close eye on him when he is eating those.
Sam also learned how to wave this month and does it non stop.  Anytime anyone is holding him, he just starts waving, even if no one else is around.  It really makes me laugh in the mornings because that is the first thing he starts to do when we get him out of bed.

Unfortunately this month also brought Sam's first ear infection.  I am just happy it took until 8 months for us to see the first one.  Other than one horrible night, he did okay with being sick. We could tell he didn't feel good, and he moaned instead of his normal happy chatter, but he still was not too fussy.

Other than that weekend, Sam is still incredibly happy.  I would bet he laughs 80% of the time that he is awake.  He has the typical adorable baby giggle, but he also has this deep, back of throat chuckle, that he does when he is proud of something he did.
I have gotten him to roll from front to back a few more times this month, but nothing that I would say makes him a pro. He is just too content to sit and play with the toys within his reach, or if there are none, he finds his toes.

We love this boy so much and as fast as these 8 months have gone by, we also cannot believe there was ever a time he was not a part of our family.

Cabin with Nana and Papa

August 1-2nd~

This trip we took out both Kerry's boat and my dad's pontoon.  Half way to our fishing/swimming destination, Molly made us hand her over to the McCulloughs because our boat was too slow.  We had a great day on the water with fishing, swimming and paddle boarding.

Chris was excited I showed interest in learning how to drive the pontoon.

Molly missed her nap and fell asleep like this as we were pulling the boat OUT of the water.

This girl has her own style.
